About The Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA Exempt/Professional position in the Engineering Construction Manufacturing and Design Division. The role provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Plumbing & Pipefitting Technology in accordance with state academic standards. This involves preparing and delivering lecture and lab-based coursework in classroom and laboratory environments that closely simulate industry settings, using current technologies and standardized syllabi. The position requires assessing and documenting student progress in a timely manner based on established grading requirements, preparing lesson plans, and maintaining all required instructional and administrative records. The instructor will maintain current knowledge of industry trends, program certification and accreditation requirements, and complete required professional development and annual Hazardous Materials Training. Instruction may be in face-to-face or blended formats. The role involves meeting with students and colleagues to support instructional programs, assisting with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts, and demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and responsiveness to supervisory direction within the college’s organizational structure.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Plumbing & Pipefitting Technology or related diploma/ degree from an accredited institution or trade school.
  • GA certified Construction Industry Licensing Board (GCILB) unrestricted Master Plumber License or CBILB Journeyman Plumber.
  • Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of experience in the field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Plumbing & Pipefitting Technology or related field from an accredited intuition or trade school.
  • Directly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Online teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for specified courses.
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
  • Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College.
