WSU Tech is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Adjunct Mental Health Technician Instructor to prepare the next generation of behavioral health professionals. Adjunct faculty provide high-quality instruction in both classroom and lab settings while fostering an engaging, supportive learning environment that promotes student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with three (3) years of teaching experience in the discipline or subfield or a completed master's degree.
  • A professional development plan to complete a master's degree may be considered.
  • Licensed or registered to practice in Kansas, as applicable to the discipline.
  • At least two years of experience in psychiatric or developmental disability nursing or behavioral health services.
  • Be licensed to practice as a licensed mental health technician and have at least five years of experience post licensure.
  • Two years of work experience shall be waived for those licensed mental health technicians possessing an associates degree.
  • Qualified faculty as defined by program accreditation requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage and motivate diverse learners.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with faculty and staff.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to student success and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Mental Health Technician courses in accordance with established curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that support student learning.
  • Deliver engaging classroom and/or laboratory instruction.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and other required academic records.
  • Incorporate current trends and best practices in behavioral and mental health into instruction.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with program faculty and staff to ensure student success and program quality.
