About The Position
Massasoit Community College is seeking Adjunct Faculty to provide classroom and laboratory instruction to Medical Assistant students for the Academic Year 2026-2027. The role involves teaching topics such as obtaining vital signs, medical histories, preparing for and assisting with procedures, and administering treatment under supervision. Emphasis will be placed on professionalism, effective communication, lab safety, and specimen collection in a medical office setting. The college is committed to diversity and inclusion, with over half of its students identifying as students of color and over half being first-generation college students. Massasoit offers a wide range of programs and serves students from numerous cities and towns across Southeastern Massachusetts.
Requirements
- Associate degree or higher in natural sciences, medical/health sciences or related field
- Certified medical assistant
- Three (3) years of recent work experience in medical/health science or education fields.
- Experience teaching clinical/laboratory courses in higher education or secondary education and one-year teaching/training experience.

Responsibilities
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to Medical Assistant students.
- Teach topics including obtaining vital signs, medical histories from patients, preparing and assisting with various procedures, and administering treatment under supervision.
- Emphasize the importance of professionalism, effective communication, lab safety, and specimen collection as they apply in a medical office.
- Encourage and maintain participation of all students.
- Provide all classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction and demonstration according to the required curriculum.
- Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program and/or develop and prepare lessons when indicated by the Program Director.
- Recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
- Monitor student attendance and retention and document as required by the college policies.
- Grade assignments and lab participation, return graded assignments and relevant feedback to students.
- Administer and correct tests.
- Maintain accountability of students and property.
- Adhere to safety practices.
- Cultivate and maintain a climate which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect.
- Provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
- Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
Benefits
- Salary: $1,512 per credit (step 1) based on enrollment. Consistent with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.
