About The Position

Colorado Mesa University is seeking qualified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) applicants for the FNP and AGPCNP graduate programs (MSN and DNP). These positions are part-time, as needed, for clinical and/or didactic courses depending on the experience and educational level of the applicant. The standard teaching load is less than 9 course credit hours per semester or less than 18 credits over an academic year. Positions are offered to qualified applicants as the need arises.

Requirements

  • Possess an unencumbered Colorado registered nurse (RN) license and advanced practice nurse (APN) license or eligible for RN and APN licenses in Colorado.
  • Hold a current national board certification as a FNP and/or AGPCNP.
  • Must have a graduate degree (a minimum of MSN) from a nationally accredited school.
  • Must have at least two years of clinical experience as a primary care provider (FNP, AGPCNP) caring for patients across the lifespan.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving as or working with clinical preceptors.
  • Experience in teaching online, in person, and in simulated environments.
  • Proficiency with or experience with learning platforms (e,g., D2L, Canvas, Blackboard) and computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Panopto).
  • Experience with creating and/or revising online assessment and evaluation methods and technology.
  • Experience and understanding of student and/or patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches online graduate students in a variety of courses primarily in the FNP and AGPCNP programs (MSN and DNP tracks).
  • May teach across various nursing programs (PN, AAS, LPN-BSN, BSNt, RN-BSN, MSN, DNP), as needed.
  • Facilitates rigorous student learning while promoting excellence within the classroom (online and/or in-person), clinical practice setting, and Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs) and Graduate Program Student Intensives (GPSIs).
  • OSCEs and GPSIs are held both via distance technology and in person on the Grand Junction campus.
  • Promotes and maintains positive and productive relationships with students, staff, colleagues, clinical agencies, and preceptors.
  • Maintains documented active clinical practice in primary care across the lifespan and/or with adult/gerontological primary care populations.
  • Possesses the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possesses the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
