About The Position

Ivy Tech Community College - Terre Haute Campus is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach IVYT Classes during the day, face-to-face in a classroom on the Terre Haute Campus. Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis and are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals, and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided. This role involves facilitating student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives, making optimal use of available technology, and developing/maintaining course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. The instructor will maintain accurate student records and grades, engage with students in meaningful ways, and demonstrate the development and implementation of active classroom teaching strategies. Professional conduct, compliance with College policies, and knowledge of emergency/safety procedures are essential. All responsibilities must be conducted within the parameters of FERPA, other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. A strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction and meeting faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 are required. The role also requires conducting all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity.

Requirements

  • Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.
  • Meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in English, Education, or a related discipline.
  • Completed a minimum of nine credit hours at the college level in composition and/or rhetoric.
  • Has experience teaching or tutoring reading.

Nice To Haves

  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in English.
  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester credit hours in English, linguistics, or courses related to the writing process.

  • Ensuring knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
  • Conducting all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
