The University of St. Thomas Philosophy Department invites applications for an adjunct faculty appointment to teach one or more sections of their introductory philosophy course, The Person and the Good. This course satisfies a requirement in the core curriculum and focuses on ethics, the conception of the human person, the rationality of belief in God, and the difference God makes to our understanding of the person and the good. The course develops and applies basic logic skills as part of philosophical method and critical thinking. Courses will meet in person two or three times per week in the Fall semester. This posting is continuously open, and qualified applicants will be part of a pool of candidates for review biannually. The salary range for the College of Arts and Sciences Adjunct positions ranges from $5,994 to $6,717 per 4 credit undergraduate course or 3 credit graduate course. The rate of pay is determined by academic credential and years of teaching experience. Teaching load generally ranges from one to three course sections per semester, depending upon department needs and enrollments. The department seeks candidates interested in facilitating meaningful experiences between students and faculty that empower undergraduate students to find success and to solve challenging problems in service of the common good.
