About The Position

The Department of Art and Design at St. John’s University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach an undergraduate Graphic Design class for the Fall 2026 semester. The course, ART 3120 Interaction Design I, introduces students to user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, combining interaction design principles with visual storytelling. Students will design for digital platforms and learn foundational HTML and CSS, with the goal of translating information architecture into functional websites and prototypes. The class meets for 5 hours and 50 minutes per week, on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:25 PM to 6:15 PM. Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experienced Graphic, Interaction, or Experience Designer.
  • Currently working in the field and/or have college teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach foundational HTML and CSS.
  • Ability to guide students in UX/UI design principles.
  • Ability to guide students in translating information architecture into prototypes and functioning websites.

Responsibilities

  • Teach an undergraduate Graphic Design class (ART 3120 Interaction Design I) for the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Introduce students to user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles.
  • Teach students to blend interaction design principles with visual storytelling.
  • Guide students in designing for digital platforms.
  • Instruct students on foundational HTML and CSS.

Benefits

  • Adjunct Assistant Professor pay rate: $1,906 per contact hour
  • Adjunct Instructor pay rate: $1,803 per contact hour
