About The Position

The Department of Language, Literature, and Arts is seeking a part-time faculty member on the San Antonio campus. The successful candidate will direct a lower-division undergraduate section of mariachi ensemble. Mode of delivery is face-to-face and may include day or night classes. Salary: $3,000 per 3-credit course.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Music or Music Education, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 18 graduate hours in music or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years teaching and conducting a mariachi ensemble at the high school or college level.
  • Familiarity with music notation software and arrangement techniques.
  • Familiarity with the needs of a non-traditional, first-generation, and multicultural student body.
  • Graduate-level degree in ethnomusicology with emphasis on Latin-American music.
