The Department of Biology at Saint Louis University is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach one semester of BIOL1600 Microbiology for Nursing. This is a three-credit hour course that will cover important groups of human pathogenic microorganisms to include structure, pathogenicity, epidemiology, diagnosis, laboratory identification, modes of action of selected antibiotics and chemotherapeutic. Other learning outcomes include the essential concepts for nurses to recognize infection, prevent the spread of infection, collect specimens and ensure integrity of the specimens, communicate with the laboratory, and interpret laboratory reporting are also emphasized. The course meets 2 times per week for lecture (M/W 3:10 – 4:25pm). Appointment date: The position will begin in August 2026 and extend through December 2026 (Fall semester). Salary: according to adjunct faculty pay scale In 2017, adjunct faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences and School of Education represented by the Service Employees International Union Local 1 voted to ratify a five-year collective bargaining agreement with Saint Louis University. The contract reflects Saint Louis University's ongoing commitment to its faculty, staff and students. Adjunct instructors are required to join the union or pay a fee.
