About The Position

The Contemplative Psychology Department seeks to hire an adjunct faculty member to teach one section of the undergraduate level course, PSYB-332 Human Anatomy in the Fall 2026 semester. This is a 3-credit course. PSYB-332 Human Anatomy (3 Credits) A traditional approach to the study of normal human anatomy, rooted in the conventional science of anatomy, studying the structure and subsequent function of the major body systems: skeletal; muscular; nervous; endocrine; immune; digestive; blood; cardiovascular; respiratory; urinary; and reproductive systems. Some practical understanding of these major systems is given from a naturopathic physician/acupuncturist's perspective. One class briefly introduces energetic systems of anatomy (e.g. meridians, chakras).

Requirements

  • MA, or Doctoral degree in Psychology or related topics. Prior relevant experience may substitute for degree. (NOTE: each candidate’s experience and demonstrated skills are assessed on a case-by-case basis as to their relevance to the position applied for, as well as whether they may substitute for University teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in leading experiential and contemplative practices/discussion in a classroom setting.
  • Experience with Canvas or other LMS platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare course syllabus and course shell on Canvas LMS according to the Academic Affairs syllabi instructions and submit the syllabus to the Office of Academic Affairs by the established deadline.
  • Meet all scheduled classes prepared to teach, take attendance, assess student progress, provide feedback to students in the Canvas course shell in a timely way, assign grades, and submit grades to Registrar by approved deadline.
  • Provide one hour of office hours each week plus availability to students by appointment.
  • Obtain permission from the copyright owner for any copyrighted material to be used in source books.
  • Complete any and all faculty and staff trainings, including training in Canvas CMS, as required by the Human Resources Office or the Office of Academic Affairs within the time period set for completion by those departments.
  • Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
  • Respond to requests from Admissions for class visits from prospective students, if appropriate.
