About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi. The role facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives, and supports a positive student experience through regular, meaningful engagement. Responsibilities are conducted in accordance with FERPA, other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. Other logically associated duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Earned bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in English for Speakers of Other Languages, applied linguistics, English, reading, or a related field.
• At least one year of teaching or tutoring experience in a second language, or an ESOL teaching endorsement, or an ESOL certification.
• Previous teaching experience is required.
• Applications must include a cover letter and an unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement or alter lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
• Engage proactively and regularly with students in meaningful and productive ways that support learning and a positive experience.
• Develop and implement teaching strategies focused on engaging students in their learning.
• Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers, complying with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
• Promote an environment in which people from broad backgrounds feel respected and valued.
• Conduct responsibilities within the parameters of FERPA, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
