About The Position

Job Description : Deliver course content that aligns with the college’s curriculum standards and student learning outcomes. Develop course syllabi, assignments, and assessments that reflect current industry practices and ensure course outcomes are met. Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles and promotes student success. Use technology and other resources to enhance course delivery and student engagement, including online, hybrid, or face-to-face modalities. Maintain accurate records of student’s progress and grades. Must adhere to mid-term verification and final grade posting deadlines. Adhere to institutional policies and procedures, including those related to academic integrity and accessibility. Teach ELA (English Literacy Acquisition)/ESL Literacy. Support students in developing foundational English language, literacy, and life skills necessary for successful participation in education, employment, and community life. Instruction aligns with the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) Adult Education and Literacy Standards. Courses to be taught : ELA 001 English Literacy Acquisition I ELA 002 English Literacy Acquisition II ELA 003 English Literacy Acquisition III ELA 004 English Literacy Acquisition IV ELA 005 English Literacy Acquisition V ELA 006 English Literacy Acquisition VI ELA 007 English Literacy Acquisition VII ELA 008 English Literacy Acquisition VIII ELA 009 Transition to HSE/Postsecondary Training I ELA 010 Transition to HSE/Postsecondary Training II Schedule Information : Adjunct faculty may be assigned a maximum workload of 24 contact hours or equivalent per academic year (i.e., fall and spring semesters). Classes within the program are offered in daytime, evening, and/or online modalities based on student demand. Requirements

The equivalent of one year teaching work experience (2000 hrs.) in the field.
A bachelor's degree in education or related field.

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching disadvantaged adults is highly desirable.
Masters in TESOL or related field.
