About The Position

The College of Education at Rowan University is searching for field supervisors with daytime availability to serve the Elementary Education program and Early Childhood Education program. This is a part-time per credit appointment. The candidate will supervise teacher candidates in schools, observe candidates and provide mentoring and feedback, and participate in service initiatives, at the program department, college and university level. The appointment consists of supervision of teacher candidates. The successful candidate will demonstrate a constructivist based theoretical framework centered on a philosophy that is grounded in social justice.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and/or related area from an accredited institution of higher education in a field at the time of appointment.
  • Daytime, in-person availability to visit schools
  • Occasional evening meetings with students for pre/post observation conferencing
  • Available to visit all schools in a certain geographic area of interest
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful teaching in P-12 settings
  • Meets state licensure requirements for teachers, P3 or K-6
  • Eager and proactive in building positive relationships with candidates and cooperative teachers
  • Demonstrated ability in communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering academic achievement, social and personal responsibility, and social justice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with P-12 schools.
  • A teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education.
  • Eligible to work in the United States. The University will not sponsor a visa for this position.

  • Experience with performance assessment measures.
  • Experience with online portfolio systems
  • Training in coaching and mentoring teachers
  • Being able to supervise in Atlantic, Cumberland, Mercer, Ocean, and Salem counties, but other counties are also welcome

Benefits

  • minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught
  • maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year
