About The Position

In the School of Justice Studies, the Department of Politics and International Relations is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor to teach POLSC 307: Gender in American Politics Political Theory on Tuesday/Friday from 3:30-4:50. The course will be in person in Bristol, RI. The course description is: POLSC 307 is designed to provide a comprehensive examination of the role that gender plays in American politics. After a historical overview, theories, data, and analysis about gender differences in voting behavior, candidate behavior, leadership styles, and public policy preferences will be examined. Other classes, including POLSC 100: Introduction to American Politics or other upper level courses might be available in future semesters.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Political Science or related field
• Experience teaching at the college level, particularly in American government and politics.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. (ABD) or Ph.D.
• Experience with active or experiential learning or other innovative pedagogical models

Responsibilities

• Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar
• Create a syllabus that meets the Provost's Syllabus Checklist requirements
• Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course
• Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner
• Use D2L Brightspace Learning Management System and other technology to enhance student learning
• Support and follow University policies and procedures
• Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines
• Communicate student concerns with Department Chair in the program
