About The Position

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences in the College of Humanities and Sciences is comprised of 15 full-time faculty engaged in an array of clinical, applied, and interdisciplinary endeavors. The undergraduate program, which make-up the 3rd largest undergraduate program at VCU, consist of concentrations in Exercise Science and Health Sciences. The graduate programs include a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health Behavior Coaching, a MS in Health and Movement Science and a PhD in Rehabilitation and Movement Science. Requirements

• Earned Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field for undergraduate course
• Earned Doctoral Degree in Exercise Science or related field for graduate course
• Competence in teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in content areas listed above
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Exercise Science, including courses such as Self Defense: Karate or Judo, Safety, First Aid and CPR, Fitness and Health, Employee Health and Fitness Management, Foundation Principles for Health, Fitness and Sport Professions, Nutrition, Psychology of Physical Activity, Structural Kinesiology, Musculoskeletal Structure and Movement, Physiology of Exercise, Resistance Training for Health and Performance, Introduction to Sport and Fitness Management, Chronic Disease and Exercise Management, Assessment and Exercise Intervention in Health and Disease, Exercise Programming and Leadership, Principles of Health Care Management, Cardiovascular Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Professional Certification Seminar, Exercise, Nutrition and Weight Management, Introduction to Research Design in Health and Movement Sciences, Movement Physiology, Nutrition for Health and Physical Activity, Psychology of Physical Activity, Laboratory Techniques in Rehabilitation Science, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Advanced Exercise Physiology I, Advanced Exercise Physiology II, Cardiovascular Exercise Physiology, Psychobiology of Physical Activity, and Metabolic Aspects of Physical Activity.
