About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi. The role delivers assigned chemistry classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives, supports student learning, and contributes to a positive educational experience. Applications must include a cover letter and an unofficial transcript.

Requirements

• Meet the chemistry discipline standard through either an earned master's or higher degree in chemistry from a regionally accredited institution, or an earned master's or higher degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in chemistry-related courses.
• Demonstrate the ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees and in which every individual feels respected and valued.
• Submit a cover letter and an unofficial transcript with the application.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
• Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
• Promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees and in which every individual feels respected and valued.
• Perform other duties logically associated with the position as assigned.
