About The Position

Saint Xavier University is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach Applied French Horn. The university prides itself on its Mercy mission and excellent teaching prowess, with faculty dedicated to high-quality teaching for its diverse student population. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching in a multicultural environment and working with students with diverse learning abilities. Opportunities may exist to teach a flexible schedule that may include teaching assignments during days, evenings, and weekends, as needed. Adjuncts can teach up to two sections of undergraduate courses per semester and are paid by stipend on a biweekly basis. The Music Department is seeking a part-time instructor to teach Applied French Horn lessons starting the week of August 31st. Adjunct Faculty instructors are responsible for course planning and instruction in various settings and delivery modes (in-person, online, hybrid, blended), student evaluation, departmental communication, and timely submission of required paperwork.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree acceptable.
  • Evidence of highly effective teaching experience, including developing instructional materials and assessments.
  • Teaching training.
  • Residency in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, or Arizona.
  • Cover letter and curriculum vitae specifying undergraduate music teaching experience and teaching training.
  • Files labeled with the last name first (e.g., Lastname_CV.docx).

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Music or a closely related field.

Responsibilities
