About The Position

The Department of American Indian Studies at Augsburg University is seeking applications for adjunct faculty positions to teach undergraduate courses during the 2026-27 academic year. This search will establish a pool of instructors for potential openings in Spring 2027. Available courses vary by term, with most classes held during the day, 2-3 days per week. In addition to teaching and grading, instructors are expected to respond to student inquiries via email, hold regular office hours, provide course progress updates, and communicate with the course coordinator. A course syllabus, including calendar, textbook and homework selection, sample activities, and exams, is typically provided, along with shared office space. Most classes are taught in-person on the Minneapolis campus. Each course requires approximately 12-15 hours per week for 15-16 weeks. The successful candidate must possess a high level of intercultural competency and a commitment to inclusive practice and authentic representation. Adjunct teaching at Augsburg University is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with SEIU, Local 284.

Requirements

• An advanced degree in American Indian Studies (Masters or PhD) or a closely related field.
• Must reside and work from Minnesota or Wisconsin.
