About The Position

Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) invites applications for qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in the AHR program, in-person during the day at the Northampton High School. Adjunct faculty support student learning by delivering high-quality instruction, maintaining accurate academic records, and fostering an inclusive, respectful learning environment. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, hybrid, or online courses depending on departmental needs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Air, Heating and Refrigeration
  • Relevant industry certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the industry

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in AHR program in alignment with departmental outcomes, accreditation standards, and institutional policies.
  • Develop and deliver engaging instruction using current teaching methodologies and appropriate learning technologies.
  • Provide students with clear instructions for all assignments and return graded work with meaningful feedback within one week of the due date.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records in Self-Service and certify attendance by required institutional deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date grade records in Moodle throughout the semester.
  • Promote a learning environment that respects diverse learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and educational goals.
  • Report student conduct issues that impede instruction following proper institutional protocol.
  • Drop students in accordance with the College’s attendance policy, including online-specific expectations for activity and participation.
  • Post the course syllabus in Moodle and provide printed copies for in-person students.
  • Use only the college-issued email account for all communication with students and employees, responding within 24–48 hours.
  • Submit final grades and required documentation by institutional deadlines; incomplete grades require prior approval from the Dean of Academic Affairs.
  • Remain on site for the full duration of each scheduled class meeting [for in-person classes].
  • Attend all scheduled class sessions and notify the supervisor of any absence; arrange appropriate instructional coverage and submit required Class-Makeup documentation when applicable.
  • Contact the Director of Distance Learning for Moodle-related technical support.
  • Participate in required orientation, training, and professional development activities.
  • Uphold confidentiality of all student information in compliance with FERPA.
