About The Position

Strayer University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member to join their academics team. This role involves teaching graduate-level Accounting classes in a hybrid format, combining in-person and asynchronous online instruction. The faculty member will serve as an instructor, coach, and mentor, fostering a love of learning and supporting diverse learning styles. The position emphasizes building strong faculty-student relationships and a supportive classroom community. The role requires teaching from a pre-designed curriculum, enhancing it with technology, and being available to students for feedback and support.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Accounting or an Accounting-related discipline required, or Doctorate in Business-related discipline with a Masters in Accounting or an Accounting-related discipline required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) software and overall computer skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic evaluation.
  • Proficiency in oral presentation skills, planning, and organizing of course objectives.
  • Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Must be able to travel weekly to required location(s).
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations.
  • Strong mental acuity.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience are strongly preferred.
  • Professional certification in discipline specialty (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in person and asynchronously online.
  • Maintain office hours as assigned.
  • Provide quality education and maintain high standards of academic excellence.
  • Enhance the strength and effectiveness of the curriculum using technology and videos.
  • Arrive on-campus at least half an hour prior to the start time of in-person sessions per week.
  • Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the student learning experience.
  • Be available to students via email, phone, text, and office hours.
  • Establish high standards and ensure students understand how they will be evaluated.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Attend faculty meetings and workshops or training as required.
