Adjunct, Drafting & Design Engineering Technology
About The Position
This is a Part-Time Faculty Pool for available assignments during the academic year. The position involves teaching and supervising students using approved curriculum, syllabi, assessments, and instructional standards. It requires utilizing effective teaching methods, technology, and educational resources to support student learning. The role also includes assessing student performance, providing feedback, maintaining records, advising students, and supporting recruitment and retention efforts. Participation in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement is expected. Maintaining positive relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, along with completing administrative responsibilities and participating in professional development, are key aspects of the role. Adherence to Alvin College policies and procedures is mandatory. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or industrial design or Associate degree in Engineering Design Graphics or Drafting/A&E CAD and three (3) years non-teaching work experience (DFTG).
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Interior Design or Associate’s degree in Engineering Design Graphics or Drafting/A&E CAD and three (3) years non-teaching work experience (ARCE, ENTC).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Working knowledge of the latest versions of Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.
- Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system.
- Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.
- Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within (30) days of hire.
- Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency."
- Requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check.
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching experience at the college level
- Prior Experience in Additive Manufacturing and 3D Scanning
Responsibilities

- Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and the community.
- Complete required reports, forms, meetings, and institutional responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of effective instructional practices.
- Adhere to Alvin College policies and procedures.
