About The Position

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking qualified applicants for part-time Child Development Instructor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting is to create a pool of candidates for potential openings at LACCD's nine colleges. The district serves a large and diverse student population across Southern California, offering a wide range of associate's degrees and certificate programs. Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators, demonstrating a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body. Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their college preferences, and qualified candidates may be interviewed by Child Development Department members at one or more LACCD colleges. Final assignment is contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education; OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s degree in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies; OR the equivalent.
  • A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption for COVID-19.

Benefits

  • Salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $89.72 per standard hour.
  • Office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments.
  • Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
