About The Position

Louisiana Delta Community College is seeking an Adjunct Adult Education Instructor for night classes. This unclassified, adjunct position involves teaching adult learners with a focus on preparing them for high school equivalency tests and enhancing basic education skills. The instructor will be responsible for planning lessons, delivering instruction using various methods, creating a conducive learning environment, and managing student records and assessments.

Requirements

An Associate's degree or higher.
Strong communication skills, including both written and oral.
Ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of personalities.

Nice To Haves

A Bachelor's degree.
Three (3) years teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Teaching adult education classes using instructional methods geared towards the adult learner in a classroom setting.
Planning lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students.
Delivering whole group, small group, and individualized instruction to students, using a variety of instructional methods, materials, and techniques.
Creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Assuring that students who qualify are pre- and post-tested as needed using the TABE Assessment.
Keeping daily attendance records and progress reports.
Maintaining accurate, complete, and up-to-date records.
Entering all reportable data into the approved Student Information System.
Participating and managing registration, testing, and scheduling events.
Establishing a positive and trusting relationship with students.
Fostering student accountability, self-advocacy, self-awareness, and critical thinking skills.
Adhering to regulations set forth regarding confidentiality of student records.
Promoting participation of students in all aspects of Adult Education programming.
Maintaining clean and professional classroom environment.
Adhering to LDCC's Standards of Practice.
Performing any other duties as assigned.
