Additive Prototyping Specialist
About The Position
Apple’s Advanced Development Lab (ADL) builds high-quality models, prototypes, and manufacturing solutions that support the development of future Apple products. The Additive Prototyping Specialist produces polymer additive prototypes and helps advance the prototyping team’s capabilities, efficiencies, and offerings. The role collaborates with design engineers and manufacturing teams to create prototypes that meet functional and aesthetic requirements, and analyzes existing processes and workflows to identify efficiency improvements. It also contributes to the development of additive prototyping processes that enable the creation of next-generation products. The specialist provides guidance on design for additive manufacturing (DfAM), works with and modifies CAD prototypes, operates various 3D printers, and performs post-processing.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience with MJF, Polyjet, SLS, or SLA 3D printing.
- Strong collaboration skills in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently on assignments.
- Attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality results.
- Understanding of additive manufacturing principles, including DfAM and post-processing techniques.
- Ability to analyze and resolve challenges related to part orientation, support structures, thermal distortions, and post-processing.
- Proficiency in at least one CAD modeling software.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Rhino/Grasshopper.
- Experience with nTopology.
- Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
