Ford Racing Additive Engineer
About The Position
Ford Racing is expanding its Additive Manufacturing (AM) team to establish a center of excellence within the company, aiming to proliferate Additive Manufacturing throughout Ford Racing motorsports and production vehicle products. This team will identify opportunities where AM can enhance the development of efficient, cutting-edge, and exciting products. The role offers direct involvement with Ford's top-tier products and significant visibility with senior leadership and potential external partners. The position is a salary grade 7, with a range of $86,600-$144,900, or a salary grade 8, with a range of $99,100-$166,200, depending on candidate qualifications.
Requirements
- Bachelors in Engineering
- Deep Practical Additive Manufacturing experience including: Design for Additive Manufacturing, Build set-up (orientation, support development, slicing decisions), Build execution (machine set-up, part production), Quality confirmation (post-build scans or measurements)
- Practical Design and Release experience for automotive components
- Basic understanding of the product development process and ability to work effectively with engineers
- Self-starter, highly motivated for success
- Passion for winning that will not accept excuses for failure
- Entrepreneurial mindset, able to make decisions based on overall value analysis

- Masters of Engineering and/or Masters of Engineering Management and/or Masters of Manufacturing Engineering
- Enthusiast background, with passion for enthusiast products or motorsports
Responsibilities
- Facilitate Ford Racing Internally-Led Projects: Work with Design and Release (D&R) engineers and development engineers to identify areas where Additive Manufacturing can benefit in-flight programs by accelerating design iteration evaluation or avoiding capital expenditure for production tools.
- Serve as a coach to D&R engineers to assess application suitability for Additive Technologies, develop designs for AM compatibility, collaborate with the manufacturing facility on build design and execution, and guide the product through execution and industrialization.
- Work with D&R engineers and the Architecture team to target specific systems, sub-systems, or components for Additive technologies in the early stages of future programs.
- Represent Ford Racing in Externally (Non Ford Racing) Led Projects: Coordinate efforts with relevant program and functional teams.
- Communicate program requirements (functional, timing, financials) to external partners to ensure successful outcomes.
- Travel: Limited initial travel for site visits for benchmarking. Optional travel opportunities may arise for supplier or partner visits.
