About The Position

This role focuses on leading the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) part development pipeline. The engineer will act as a consultant for part selection, process selection, optimization, qualification, and implementation. The position involves designing innovative, production-ready components using 3D models and assemblies optimized for additive manufacturing to enhance quality, cost, and speed. Collaboration with global engineering teams is key, requiring clear communication of timelines, risks, and solutions, and influencing design decisions across multiple stakeholders. The role also includes creating rough stock and finish-machined drawings with GD&T considerations, developing and testing prototypes hands-on in the Additive Technology Lab, and contributing to the advancement of Emerson’s additive manufacturing standards and documentation. Continuous improvement will be supported through engineering change requests and documenting post-build results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least one year of experience with additive manufacturing; co-op or internship experience is valued.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work off-hours and/or travel to collaborate with global teams across different time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling tools, such as SOLIDWORKS® or NX.
  • Familiarity with build preparation software, such as 3DXpert or similar tools.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and project management skills.
  • Clear, effective communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and provide technical tours.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies in a fast-evolving technical environment.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while collaborating with teams that have competing priorities across different countries and cultures.
