Addictions Specialist 1, 2, or 3 - Deflection Program

Linn County Department of Health Services•Albany, OR
•Onsite

About The Position

The Linn County Alcohol & Drug Program provides prevention and treatment services to adults and youth with substance use or co-occurring mental disorders or problem gambling. The program is seeking an experienced clinician to provide outpatient substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health treatment, primarily to adults and their families, including clients on parole or probation and parents involved with DHS Child Welfare. Services are provided in program clinics and community agencies and include evaluations, individual, group, and family therapy, case management, community education, and consultation. The primary function of this position is to provide outreach across Linn County to people charged with minor drug-related offenses who may be deflected by the judicial system to treatment or other supports, with the aim of eliminating the charge from further prosecution. Outreach may include screenings and ASAM assessments to determine diagnosis and level of care; referrals and warm handoffs to community resources; support for entry into treatment and other services using motivational interviewing and engagement skills; and coordination with the legal system to understand individuals’ needs. The position works closely with staff at referring agencies, including Parole & Probation and DHS Child Welfare. The position is full time at 37.5 hours per week, requires on-site work, and does not offer remote work. Some evening work and travel to outlying Linn County clinics are expected. It is non-supervisory, though incumbents may train and orient newly assigned personnel. The role is represented by SEIU and is open until filled; the first application review is November 6, 2026.
