About The Position

This position provides addiction counseling services in a maximum-security forensic hospital, Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center. This includes treatment of patients and assessment of patients, to include the use of empirically supported addictions treatment procedures and interventions. Individuals hospitalized include persons charged with serious violent felonies (e.g., murder, arson, sexual offenses, etc.) and patients referred from prisons, detention centers, courts, and other mental health facilities not able to effectively treat them due to the level of violence, behavioral disturbance, or risk of escape.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor or as a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug on or before September 30, 2008.
  • May be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland if assigned duties requiring the operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
