About The Position

Mamaweswen, The North Shore Tribal Council is seeking an individual to join their Niigaaniin team providing Addiction and Mental Health Housing Outreach Services to support community members experiencing homelessness. The E’naadmaaget - Addictions and Mental Health Housing Outreach Worker will actively bridge community members experiencing homelessness with relevant Indigenous services and programs as necessitated by service plans. This role involves developing and monitoring community member Service/Action Plans, cooperating with participating First Nations and other community-based and external organizations. The position works in collaboration with Street Outreach workers, conducting self-administered assessments to determine pathways through services, collaborating with internal services, and making external referrals in crisis situations. The E’naadmaaget will also assist clients in achieving life stabilization and employability goals by facilitating the Mino Bimaadizidaa curriculum.

Requirements

  • Must provide a Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Peoples Sector Check applicable to the responsibilities of this position.
  • Must provide a Drivers Abstract.
  • Must maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Must have a valid Class “G” Driver’s License with a reliable vehicle.

  • Registered band member of the First Nations serviced by Niigaaniin Services, including Batchewana First Nation, Garden River First Nation, Thessalon First Nation, Mississauga First Nation, Serpent River First Nation, Sagamok Anishnawbek, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, and Wahnapitae First Nation.
  • Career in Social Services Work and/or Diploma in Social Services Work and/or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years employment experience working with indigenous people and facilitating groups of diverse clients facing multiple barriers to employment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively bridge community members experiencing homelessness with relevant Indigenous services and programs as necessitated by service plans.
  • Develop and monitor community member Service/Action Plans.
  • Cooperate and work with participating First Nations and other community-based and external organizations.
  • Work in collaboration with the Street Outreach workers.
  • Conduct self-administered assessments of individuals’ dimensions to determine their pathways through services.
  • Collaborate with internal services as requested and make appropriate external referrals in crisis and exceptional circumstances to support successful Service/Action Plan completion.
  • Assist clients in achieving life stabilization and employability goals by facilitating Mino Bimaadizidaa curriculum in group and individual settings.
