About The Position

Ford Motor Company is seeking an ADAS Embedded Software Engineer to develop and integrate embedded software for feature applications in next-generation advanced driver assistance systems. The position involves model-based software development, verification and validation, testing, debugging, and support for real-world ADAS feature testing. The role may also contribute to other parts of the development and testing process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • At least 2 years of experience with embedded software and Model Based Design using Simulink and Stateflow.
  • At least 2 years of experience with embedded software C programming.
  • At least 2 years of experience testing embedded software, including MIL/SIL testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of feature specifications, FMEAs, robustness disciplines, and Design Verification Plans.
  • Understanding of performance requirements and interactions with other features and the system, and ability to establish procedures to verify performance quantitatively and subjectively.
  • Experience with control algorithms using MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent.
  • Experience working on driver assistance technologies involving radar, cameras, sensors, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis, ideally in driver-assist technology.
  • Experience using test management tools for test strategy and test case development, test execution (manual and automated), and test metric reporting.
  • Experience with defect management systems such as JIRA.
  • Ability to interpret C/C++, Java code, or logs to aid issue resolution.
  • Experience with automated test systems and test script development.
  • Experience with MATLAB, shell scripting, Jenkins, GitHub, and Linux development.
  • Experience with low-level debugging tools such as Lauterbach ICE, Wireshark, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with automated testing environments, frameworks, and programming languages such as Gtest, CUnit, Slash, Python, or Ruby.
  • Experience using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems and setting up test benches.
  • Experience with debuggers and CAN tools such as CANalyzers or similar test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate the embedded software platform for feature applications in Ford's next-generation ADAS systems.
  • Apply modeling and coding standards, static analysis, coverage practices, and model-test-case reviews to support software quality.
  • Support real-world testing of ADAS features in collaboration with partner teams.
  • Support software requirement development, modeling, code generation, and testing at different levels.
  • Flash, validate, and debug code in bench and HIL setups, as well as in pre-production and prototype vehicles.
  • Conduct verification and validation of ADAS-related model-based software.
  • Develop test procedures, plans, automated scripts, and test cases.
  • Define test setups and identify the equipment, tools, licenses, hardware, and test systems needed; support test bench bring-up.
  • Identify test dependencies, including specifications, interfaces, compliance, and hardware and software components.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and tooling and provide support for them.
  • Execute automated and manual MIL, SIL, and bench tests; analyze results, conduct root-cause analysis, and verify issues.
  • Contribute to team results by taking ownership in agile scrum development sprints.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists, feature owners, development teams, and other test teams on testing and development activities.
  • Provide technical leadership within a collaborative team.

Benefits
