Adaptive Swim Instructor
About The Position
Kids First Sports Center is seeking an energetic, patient, and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Adaptive Swim Coach. This is a chance to help shape the future of a growing program from the ground up, and to be part of building something that will change the way families with special needs children experience youth sports. No prior swim instruction experience is required. We will train you in our swim curriculum. What we are looking for is heart, patience, and a genuine desire to work with special needs students ages 3-12. Kids First Sports Center offers over 100,000 square feet of youth sport facilities, including gymnastics, preschool gymnastics, swim, ninja, dance, and cheer programs, all under one roof. As you grow with us, there are opportunities to expand into other program areas as well, including gymnastics, preschool, and ninja. Kids First also offers occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy on-site, so families can access a full range of support for their child in one place.
Requirements
- Experience working with special needs individuals, or a strong interest in doing so.
- Comfortable in and around water; prior swim instruction experience is a plus but not required.
- Patient, adaptable, and encouraging teaching style.
- Strong communication skills with children and parents.
- Reliable and available for a flexible part-time or PRN schedule.

Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group-based swim instruction to children ages 3-12 with special needs.
- Adapt lesson plans and teaching techniques to meet each student's individual needs and abilities.
- Build trust and rapport with students and their families.
- Communicate student progress with parents and caregivers.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment in and around the pool.
- Collaborate with other Kids First staff and departments to support the student experience.
- Complete training in Kids First's swim curriculum and adaptive teaching methods.
