Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
Valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
Clean driving record that meets company Driver Selection Policy standards.
Ability to safely assist residents with boarding and exiting a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
Ability to demonstrate patience, compassion, and respect when working with seniors and individuals with mobility limitations.
Courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with residents.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow map directions.
Ability to work independently while following established safety and transportation procedures.
Ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in a senior living environment.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience transporting or assisting individuals who use wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility devices is strongly preferred.
Experience operating wheelchair-accessible vehicles, lifts, ramps, and wheelchair restraint systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely transport residents who use wheelchairs or other mobility devises to scheduled activities, appointments, events, and outings.
Safely assist residents with boarding and exiting the wheelchair-accessible vehicle while maintaining their dignity, comfort, and privacy.
Properly operate wheelchair lifts, ramps, and other accessibility equipment.
Properly secure wheelchairs and mobility devices using the appropriate safety restraints and equipment before and during transportation.
Provide courteous and attentive assistance to residents throughout the transportation process.
Complete a safety inspection of the applicable vehicle, wheelchair lift/ramp, restraints, and other transportation equipment before transporting residents.
Follow all safety procedures and report any vehicle, lift, ramp, or equipment concerns promptly.
Accurately record vehicle mileage, resident attendance, and other required transportation information.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly vehicle and transportation area.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with residents, families, team members, and medical or activity staff.
Maintain a calm, patient, and reassuring demeanor when assisting residents with mobility needs.
