To direct and develop the clinical and administrative operations of Acute Admissions Services according to certification/accreditation guidelines. All services are provided according to the needs and preferences of adult individuals, taking into account age and diagnoses-specific issues. This position is also responsible for coordinating the performance improvement services of the unit. This successful candidate will need comprehensive knowledge of the clinical, administrative and accreditation/licensing requirements for inpatient mental health programs for the seriously and acutely mentally ill adult and geriatric populations. Knowledge of the principles and practices of mental health assessment, psychiatric rehabilitation and treatment of individuals with serious mental illness. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership for multidisciplinary staff. Knowledge of principles/procedures of staff development, teamwork and problem solving skills. Good understanding of community resources and practices related to this population. Working knowledge of the principles of continuous quality improvement and their application to inpatient mental health. Knowledge of CMS (Acute & Long-Term Care), The Joint Commission and other accrediting body standards. Ability to understand and consistently employ the customer service model of healthcare integration and delivery. Must be physically capable of moving throughout the campus as needed, and process the stress management skills required to oversee a busy treatment unit in a demanding facility. Ability to work in a secure and locked environment with individuals who are experiencing acute symptoms of mental illness and/or additional forensic/legal involvement.
