This hospital-based position is the first point of contact for patients accessing medical treatment. The representative provides in-person intake and registration across services that may include the Emergency Department, inpatient care, obstetrics, outpatient services, surgery, and imaging. The role includes delivering customer service, verifying patient identity and demographics, obtaining insurance authorizations, verifying eligibility and benefits, generating service estimates, providing financial counseling, and collecting patient liability. The representative also resolves customer issues and supports accurate, compliant documentation and timely registration to help maximize reimbursement and minimize denials. The position works independently under regular supervision in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment. It requires adaptability, critical thinking, independent decision-making, and the ability to prioritize work while supporting timely patient care. The role may cover services 24/7 and may include other Patient Access Services assignments, such as transporting patients, training new hires, or handling daily deposits. New hires must attend New Hire Orientation and Patient Access Services training. Acute Patient Access training takes place during the first four weeks, Monday through Friday during standard business hours. The position is per diem, does not guarantee hours, and does not offer benefits. Shifts are scheduled between Monday and Saturday, 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; an on-call evening rotation and mandatory holiday rotation apply. A flat $1-per-hour weekend differential and a 15% night-shift differential apply when applicable.
