About The Position

The Acute Medicine Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses who care for a team of patients. The role helps maintain a safe, healing environment and contributes to patient assessment by gathering vital information and reporting changes in condition to the nursing team. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week, with a 7 a.m.–7:30 p.m. day schedule and weekend and holiday rotations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician.
• Certified Nurse Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision and promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living; perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and professional development.
