About The Position

The Acute Care Tech I provides assistance with basic activities of daily living and performs specified treatments and procedures under the direct supervision of a nurse. The role may also include non-direct patient-care activities, such as stocking and clerical tasks, as assigned or directed. This is a part-time night position at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio.

Requirements

• Two years of high school education.
• Age 17 with a work permit.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Reading and math ability appropriate to the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document basic patient-care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN.
• Maintain competency in trained tasks, complete assigned work within required timeframes, and seek clarification from the nurse when unsure how to proceed.
• Maintain a safe environment, report hazards, complete safety event reports when necessary, follow infection-control policies, and apply safety and emergency procedures.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, coworkers, and the healthcare team; report patient-related information and assignment problems promptly; document observations and tasks; and use the chain of command appropriately.
• Perform required supply, equipment, and environmental activities; promptly report and follow up on availability or equipment issues; and ensure supplies and equipment are ready for the next person.
• Identify opportunities for self-improvement, maintain knowledge of organizational and unit changes, and support those changes.
