About The Position

The Acute Care Tech I provides assistance with basic activities of daily living and performs specified treatments and procedures under the direct supervision of a nurse. The role may also include non-direct patient care activities, such as stocking and clerical work, as assigned or directed. The position is part-time nights, with a schedule of 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio. A $1.75 shift differential is listed.

Requirements

Two years of high school education.
Age 17 with a work permit.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Reading and math ability appropriate to the position.

Responsibilities

Perform and document basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN.
Maintain competency in tasks for which the PCA has been trained and complete assigned tasks within the required timeframe.
Seek clarification from the nurse when uncertain how to proceed.
Maintain a safe environment, report hazards, complete safety event reports as needed, follow infection control policies, and apply safety and emergency procedures.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, coworkers, and the health care team; report patient-related information and assignment issues promptly.
Document observations and tasks performed, collaborate with the health care team, and use the chain of command appropriately.
Perform assigned supply, equipment, and environmental activities; promptly report and follow up on availability issues and broken or malfunctioning equipment.
Ensure supplies and equipment are available for the next person.
Identify areas for self-improvement, maintain knowledge of organizational and unit changes, and support those changes.
