About The Position

Behavioral Health is a nursing specialty focused on caring for individuals across the lifespan who present with physical, emotional, or psychological changes in health. Psychiatric nursing addresses acute and chronic illnesses in a variety of care settings and supports patients and families in the acute setting as they prepare for safe discharge and continuity of therapeutic care. Nurses adapt the nursing process to psychiatric care, incorporating de-escalation skills and safety alongside assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of human responses. Care is guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring, with an emphasis on caring relationships, uninterrupted moments with patients, and unconditional acceptance and respect. The position is patient-facing, on-site, part-time, and scheduled for a 12-hour night shift for 12 hours per week. There is no supervisory or budget responsibility.
