About The Position

Innovative Therapy Concepts (ITC) is seeking a Physical Therapist with a passion for acute care, particularly in neuro or ortho trauma, to join their team at Northside Gwinnett. This full-time position is open to both experienced Physical Therapists and new graduates. The role involves mobilizing patients in critical care areas such as the ICU and progressive care units, often dealing with patients who have multiple lines and are in very critical medical states. Therapists will need to clinically problem-solve complex orthopedic injuries, considering mobilization, discharge needs, and therapeutic progression. Key qualities sought include teamwork, excellent communication, multitasking ability, and flexibility. ITC is a Physical Therapist-owned and operated management organization that has partnered with Northside Gwinnett since 2013.

Requirements

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program

• Technical Competencies: Use of intranet, Microsoft Outlook, Current EMR, MD Portal, Lawson, NetLearning, Microsoft Office Products, therapy related equipment, software and patient education resources.
• Daily operation and basic maintenance of office equipment and machines such as phone system, fax, copier, etc.
• Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines, equipment and tools, which may include computer, printer, facsimile machine, copier, calculator, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten (10) pounds frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work with continuous up and down movement from chair.
• Mental Requirements: Requires the ability to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgement in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Requires the ability to record and deliver information to explain procedures, to follow verbal and written instructions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in acute critical care areas of the hospital is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Appropriately assesses and examines patients with varying diagnoses according to PT scope of practice.
• Treats patient within the PT scope of practice.
• Teaches patients how to use and care for orthotic, prosthetic devices, and other assistive apparati.
• Provides education to patients, caregivers and associates regarding PT interventions, safety, community resources and outcomes.
• Recommends appropriate adaptive equipment for ambulation and functional mobility.
• Coordinates and leads groups.
• Attends and participates in care planning meetings as assigned.
• Communicates and collaborates with all customers and interdisciplinary team members.
• Maintains gym area and equipment.
• Contributes to profits and revenues including marketing and productivity.
• Participates in budget development and cost saving efforts.
• Serves on performance improvement teams.
• Participates in community services.
• Supervises treatment and documentation of the physical therapy assistant.
• Delegates treatment tasks to PTAs and aides in accordance with PT state practice guidelines.
• Provides care and documentation in accordance with regulatory, legal, and reimbursement guidelines.
• Accepts responsibility for own growth and development through inservices, required programs and continuing education.
• Complies with all established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintains CPR certification.
• Assumes responsibility for completing all assignments and tasks in a timely and cost efficient manner.
• Performs other duties as required.
