Mayo Clinic is seeking a dedicated and skilled healthcare professional to join our Transplant Abdominal Surgery team. This role focuses on providing inpatient post-operative management for kidney, pancreas, and liver transplant recipients. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant possesses advanced health assessment and decision-making skills, prepared through a formal educational program and certified by an approved certifying body. They collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver care across the continuum. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications and treatments, and providing non-pharmacological therapies. Nurse Practitioners also focus on teaching and counseling, while Physician Assistants monitor therapeutic intervention effectiveness, make referrals, and perform minor procedures as approved. This role requires knowledge of growth and development across the life span and the ability to interpret age-specific patient information. The individual demonstrates leadership through committee involvement, team projects, education, research, and performance improvement initiatives. Active participation in professional organizations and community activities is encouraged. Practice is guided by the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Advanced Practice Registered Nursing, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and Rules of the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
