About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking Acute Care Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants for the division of Hospital Internal Medicine (HIM) to provide high-quality hospital-based care. The HIM team cares for a diverse and complex patient population in a high-acuity, dynamic, and collaborative hospital setting, with a focus on Hematology/Oncology and Transplant Medicine. The NP/PA will partner with HIM physicians to assess, diagnose, and treat patients in the Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care Units (PCU), completing admissions and consultations, and cross-covering patients. This role involves 12-hour shifts that are NIGHTS ONLY and include weekends and holidays. The HIM team is dedicated to Mayo Clinic’s three shields: patient care, education, and research, and seeks candidates interested in these areas. The NP/PA will demonstrate leadership through involvement in committees, team projects, education, and research, and will actively seek to improve practice through performance improvement initiatives. Mayo Clinic Hospital is expanding to meet patient needs in Arizona, and the HIM division is growing, seeking dedicated NP/PAs for patient care and teaching.

Requirements

One to three years of inpatient clinical experience required.
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner ONLY: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner ONLY: Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as a ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
Physician Assistant: Current PA certification by NCCPA.
Physician Assistant: Registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date.
DEA registration required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record preferred.

Nice To Haves

Hospital Internal Medicine experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide high quality hospital-based care in collaboration with physicians and other NP PAs.
