About The Position

Albany Medical College is seeking a BC/BE Acute Care Surgeon to join our division of Acute Care Surgery and Critical Care. The Division consists of 13 faculty that staff an ACS verified Level 1 Trauma Center, a 30-bed critical care unit, which provides trauma and acute care surgical services. Albany Medical Center is the only tertiary care medical center and Level I trauma center in northeastern New York serving a catchment population of 3 million people with approximately 4,600 trauma admissions per year. This is an excellent opportunity for a Trauma and Critical Care Surgeon who has a strong interest in academic growth. The successful candidate will receive access to brand new, state-of-the-art operating facilities. Albany Medical College boasts academic opportunities through its critical care fellowship program, general surgery residency program, its medical school, and opportunities for research. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and benefits. The 30 bed Critical Care unit is composed of a Surgical ICU and Neuro ICU that accepts more than 1600 admissions per year. The distribution offers a wide-variety of cases including patients with trauma, elective and emergent vascular surgery, neurosurgical diseases and stroke, surgical oncology, and complex general surgical conditions (e.g.-severe pancreatitis, necrotizing fasciitis, etc.). In addition, the service staffs a separate cardiac surgical unit and vascular surgical ICU’s. Albany Medical Center is northeastern New York’s only academic health sciences center and the largest private sector employer in the Capital Region. The Center incorporates the 734-bed Albany Medical Center Hospital, one of New York's largest teaching hospitals. Albany Medical College, one of the nation's first private medical colleges, educates many of the doctors and other medical professionals that practice in the region and provides residency and continuing medical education programs. Albany Medical Center also supports a biomedical research enterprise to further understanding of illness and discovery of tomorrow’s cures.

Requirements

  • BC/BE Acute Care Surgeon
  • Strong interest in academic growth
  • Ability to access sensitive information (HIPAA Protected Health Information and other regulated information) and adhere to "need to know" principles and minimum necessary use/disclosure.
  • Ability to ensure information is protected from unauthorized access and modification.

Responsibilities
