Requirements

• Graduate from an approved program of the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
• National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine ( NCCAOM) national board certification as a Diplomat of Acupuncture.
• Current license as a registered acupuncturist in the state of practice.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of basic theoretical concepts necessary to the practice of acupuncture.
• Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to acupuncture.
• Ability to position the patient appropriately based on the location of selected points, locate the selected points, and use appropriate therapeutic techniques.
• Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of experience in providing acupuncture services to the public within the past 5 years. 1850 hours of training.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or achieve within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive and holistic health assessments to develop a plan of care for each patient: assesses patient needs and plans for, evaluates, and modifies care to meet goals of acupuncture interventions.
• Provides skilled and safe acupuncture services/interventions in accordance with physician orders to provide the highest quality care and pain relief to patients.
• Collaborates with various departments to plan and evaluate team goals for each patient.
• Communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families, and staff regarding patient status, both verbally and in writing.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Maintains detailed and complete records of health care plans and prognoses.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
