About The Position

Milliman's Seattle Health Practice is seeking an FSA with a background in health actuarial work, specifically focusing on Value Based Payments (VBP) within government programs like Medicare and Medicaid. The role demands strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Milliman offers comprehensive training in consulting and advanced actuarial techniques. The Seattle Health Practice serves a diverse clientele including insurance companies, health plans, government agencies, healthcare providers, and employers, with a team of over 180 actuarial professionals supported by consultants, IT specialists, and operations staff. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
  • FSA designation
  • 7+ years of healthcare actuarial experience, with at least four (4) years in a consulting or advisory role supporting health plans, state Medicaid agencies, or ACOs.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with VBP arrangements (e.g., shared savings, capitation, and other provider risk arrangements).
  • Minimum of three (3) years leading Medicare and/or Medicaid program VBP work, including delegating work to and mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Strong understanding of the US healthcare system
  • Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable way
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work both independently and in team environments
  • Seeks to learn and understand project goals in service of finding new and better ways to solve client problems
  • Comfortable adapting existing data sources and methodologies in response client problems
  • Can explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is key

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with current Medicare and Medicaid VBP programs (REACH/LEAD, MSSP, AHEAD, TEAM, managed Medicaid or Medicare Advantage provider risk) is a plus.
  • Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python, or R

Responsibilities
