About The Position

In this internship, you'll gain hands-on experience and work with a mentor to learn all about the Actuarial role and network with leadership at social events. Here at Sentry, we value real work experience for our interns. We offer not only an internship, but an experience for students to get a head start on their careers, early on. With the actuary internship, you will work with a mentor to learn how actuaries play a vital role in the company’s success. You will also get opportunities to network by attending diverse social events and meeting leadership in multiple areas. This position will have the opportunity to intern in either our Madison or Stevens Point, WI office location.

Requirements

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics or related field preferred
• At least one actuarial exam complete is preferred
• Obtain a minimum in-major GPA of 3.0
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 through May 2029
• Sentry does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience

Responsibilities

• Compile and categorize data
• Complete assignments which pertain to monitoring rate adequacy
• Manage corporate insurance risks
• Perform basic statistical analysis
• Evaluate loss and expense reserves
• Become familiar with company operations, systems, and actuarial methodologies
