About The Position

Farm Bureau Financial Services is seeking a driven, self-motivated, mathematically focused individual to join their team as an Actuarial Specialist. This role offers an opportunity to become an expert in rating property lines of business. This is not an actuarial track position, and completion of actuarial exams is not necessary.

Requirements

College degree (including coursework in mathematics), or equivalent, plus 1 year of applicable experience.
Knowledge and working experience with spreadsheets and ability to apply to actuarial related problems.
Proven decision making and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems.
Must be a self-starter who is detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong attention to detail is imperative to success.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

Programming experience is beneficial, or a desire and willingness to learn programming, such as VBA, Python, or SQL.
A demonstration of willingness to learn property lines of business through progress toward insurance industry designations.

Responsibilities

Acquiring and examining data from multiple sources, applying actuarial concepts to analyze data, and providing insight with suggested conclusions.
Providing technical support for developing rate indications, rate pages, and experience reviews.
Answering questions and correcting issues related to the rating system.
Learning to identify unusual data or results and recommending solutions.
Learning actuarial functions, data sources, and insurance concepts.
