About The Position

National Interstate, a member of Great American Insurance Group, is a leading commercial transportation insurer offering risk financing solutions nationwide. We are seeking an Actuarial Intern for Summer 2027 to apply academic skills to real-world workplace challenges within the insurance industry. This internship provides hands-on experience, exposure to various departments, professional development, and networking opportunities. The program is designed to value the unique perspectives and contributions of interns. The internship will take place in the Richfield, Ohio office.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
Anticipated graduation date ranging from Fall/Winter 2027 to Spring 2028.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Learns various actuarial techniques and procedures.
Becomes familiar with company operations, systems, and actuarial methodologies.
Assist with updating data in established pricing and reserving analyses.
Becomes familiar with basic statistical techniques.
Improves upon basic knowledge in Excel and introduced to programming and other actuarial software.
Performs other duties as assigned.
