About The Position

Builders Mutual is offering an Actuarial Intern position for Summer 2027. This internship provides hands-on experience in the Actuarial department, focusing on risk identification and trend projection through data analysis, reporting, pricing, and reserving. The program includes a one-week orientation, a capstone presentation to executives, training and shadowing in claims and adjuster workflows, coaching from an intern manager, community volunteer opportunities, professional development workshops, leadership roundtables, and networking events. Interns will also benefit from a buddy program and may be considered for full-time roles after graduation.

Requirements

  • Current Sophomore or Junior undergraduate student working towards a degree in Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Economics.
  • Practical experience inside or outside of school or work.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience (group projects and/or clubs plus engaged in class).
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Proven team player who takes the initiative and works with others to achieve team goals.
  • High-level analytical capabilities and a drive for critical thinking.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Desire and capability to learn new software or tools quickly.
  • Ability to commit for 10 weeks (May 17 - July 23) during the summer of 2027.
  • Willing to live or commute to Raleigh during your intern experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SQL, R, or Python, and/or experience is a plus.
