About The Position

As an Actuarial Consultant or Senior Actuarial Consultant (Personal Insurance - Regulated Automobile Pricing, Maritimes), you will play a lead role in analyzing automobile pricing for the Maritimes region while enjoying a high degree of autonomy. This position involves mentoring actuarial analysts and applying actuarial expertise to solve complex business problems and provide strategic insights. We are recruiting for the levels of Senior Actuarial Analyst, Actuarial Consultant, or Senior Actuarial Consultant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to convey business terminology and meaningful insights that are well-received.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, SQL, R, Python, or other related software, programming languages, or actuarial software.
  • In-depth knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, financial and business principles, and a strong ability to apply this knowledge to insurance problems.
  • High attention to detail when performing analysis, with minimal technical errors.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of actuarial experience is an asset.
  • Successful completion of 4 CAS exams is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Research, extract, and manipulate complex data from relevant sources, and assess data quality.
  • Support the business and the entire team by performing timely analysis/reviews and responding to ad-hoc requests or participating in special projects with minimal peer and management support.
  • Identify new industry trends and analyze their impact on the business.
  • Provide periodic project updates to stakeholders. Anticipate obstacles and report them in advance.
  • Lead projects from start to finish. Handle the implementation of final products. Handle training and documentation related to projects as needed.
  • Actively contribute to the coaching, training, and development of actuarial analysts.
  • Build trust and credibility with peers. Develop strong working relationships across teams.
