The North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) is seeking an Actuarial Analyst with a Property & Casualty (P&C) focus. This position is part of the Actuarial Services Division and will provide technical support to the Chief Actuary and the Company Services Group. The role involves completing actuarial reviews of rate bureau filings, assisting with special studies on issues affecting the P&C insurance market, and performing special technical projects under the guidance of the Chief Actuary. These studies may include data calls and reserve reviews for traditional insurance companies and risk retention groups. The analyst will help in assembling and analyzing data to estimate the probability and cost of insurable events and support agency actuaries in providing consultation and recommendations to various divisions. Duties include reviewing rate, rule, and policy form filings, Statements of Actuarial Opinion, analyzing data for rate hearings, and assisting with insurer surveys or data calls. Work is reviewed by a supervisor for content and technical accuracy. This position offers a hybrid telework option with routine office presence and up to one remote workday per week after an orientation period, subject to management discretion.
